ACTRESS PATSY KENSIT TO STAR IN ALADDIN THIS CHRISTMAS AT THE ATKINSON

LHK Productions and The Atkinson have announced Patsy Kensit as the star of their 2022 Christmas Pantomime, Aladdin.

The British icon, who started her film career at the age of four, will be granting wishes as The Genie of the Lamp at the Southport theatre in an action-packed festive production of the much-loved family friendly classic from Thursday, December 8th.

Aladdin tells the legendary rags to riches story of a Chinese street urchin who falls in love with a beautiful princess. Sent into the cave of wonders by the evil Abanazar to fetch an old oil lamp, Aladdin soon discovers its home to an all-powerful Genie, which he unintentionally releases with a rub of the lamp.

Director of LHK Productions Lee Kelly said: “We cannot wait to return to The Atkinson this Christmas and working with Patsy Kensit is a real dream come true. The whole panto cast & crew are so excited to start rehearsals and to bring some festive fun to Southport for another year running.

“Patsy is a huge asset to this year’s production, and we can’t wait to watch her bring the beloved Genie to life.”

With a long list of Hollywood roles to her name, including The Great Gatsby and Lethal Weapon 2, the multitalented star topped the charts in the 1980s with her pop band, Eighth Wonder and their three popular hits Cross My Heart, Baby Baby and I’m Not Scared.

As a staple on our TV screens in the 00s, Patsy has starred in some of the nation’s favourite soaps including Emmerdale and Holby City and was more recently seen joining the open-top bus procession on the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee alongside fellow British icons such as Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

As a source of inspiration to many, she is now a motivational speaker and writer and currently lives in London. She has two sons who she believes are her greatest achievements.

Patsy said: “I’m really looking forward to taking to the stage in Southport and having lots of fun with my fellow cast members. It’s set to be a fantastic show for all the family and I’m excited to don my costume and transform into The Genie of the Lamp to grant some special wishes this festive season."

Joining Patsy on stage in this year’s show is a fabulous cast of panto pros, including Merseyside dancer and actor Dominic Gore, who’s set to charm audiences as the quick-witted hero Aladdin, talented singer Mia Molloy playing the beautiful Princess Jasmine and Southport’s very own Tom Burroughs, who will deserve all of the boos as he embodies the primary antagonist, evil Abanazar with his malevolent mind and wicked games.

Pantomime regulars, the hilarious Michael Chapman and Lewis Pryor, will captivate audiences once again and have them laughing out loud as Widow Twankey & Wishee Washee and local broadcaster Claire Simmo will dazzle as the Spirit of the Ring.

This year’s show will run from December 8th to the 31st and host a variety of accessible performances, from captioned shows to relaxed environments.

Marie Kenny, Programme Manager at The Atkinson added: “Welcoming families, friends, and panto enthusiasts alike into the theatre throughout the festive period is at the heart of our purpose here at The Atkinson. With the talent of our incredible cast, our aim is to take our audiences on a magical carpet ride and encompass a truly enchanting atmosphere which compliments the festive spirit of Christmas.”

Will Aladdin overcome the evil Abanazar and be free to marry his Jasmine? Will the Genie of the Lamp gain her freedom? Will Widow Twanky & Wishy Washy get the laundry done in time?

Go on a magical carpet ride at The Atkinson this Christmas in a panto extravaganza for all the family.

Wrexham’s Giant of a Christmas Pantomime

A Welsh reality television star will swap the party scene for the theatre stage as he takes on the

leading role in Wrexham's annual Christmas pantomime.

Jordan Davies, best known for his role as a rep on ITV2's The Magaluf Weekender and its

successor Ibiza Weekender, has been confirmed as the headline performer in 'Jack and the

Beanstalk', which is being performed at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhos, from December 8-31

Having performed as the Genie of the Lamp in Aladdin at The Epstein Theatre in Liverpool last

year, Jordan is no stranger to the panto world but admitted he was feeling nervous ahead of taking

on his first lead role.

He said: "Being on a reality show is much different to being on stage in a pantomime, it's two very

different worlds but I enjoy being part of both.

"Although I've performed in pantomime before, I do know I've got a challenge on my hands, starring

as the title character. I can't be a naughty boy, which is what people will expect of me! I've got to

knuckle down, especially as I'll be singing this time."

The 26-year-old has also appeared on Ex on the Beach and competed as a housemate in Celebrity Big Brother.

This autumn, Jordan will also be appearing on The Weekender Boat Party, taking the 9pm slot  on ITV2.

Originally from Cardiff, Jordan says he's looking forward to performing to a Welsh audience.

He said: "I've heard good things about The Stiwt, I know Wrexham people are good fun, as I've got some friends

from the area, and they'll be coming along to support me, which is brilliant.

"I'm looking forward to getting started and getting in the festive spirit. Christmas is the best time of the year,

everyone's spirits are high, and that's what panto is all about."

This will be the ninth year Liverpool-based LHK Productions have produced the Christmas pantomime at the Stiwt Theatre.

Lee Kelly, producer of the pantomime and managing director of LHK Productions, said: “It's a pleasure to announce Jordan as our headline star in this year's pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

"Everyone who watches our panto at The Stiwt always has a brilliant time, and this year's will be no exception. I guarantee Wrexham is in for a treat with Jack and the Beanstalk."

Jack and the Beanstalk will be at the Stiwt Theatre from December 8-31, with matinee and evening performances.

Cast Announced for Wrexhams Fairytale Pantomime!

A former Eastenders heartthrob and a reality TV star are set to inject some magic into Wrexham’s annual

festive pantomime.

Tony Discipline, best known for playing Tyler Moon in the BBC soap, and Mark Bryon, ex-Big Brother housemate,

have today been confirmed as the headline stars in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which is being performed

at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhosllanerchrugog, from December 9-31.

Soap hunk Tony will make his pantomime debut starring as Prince Charming, while Mark will star in the production

as the magical Fairy Godfather, after proving a fans’ favourite when he starred as the Slave of the Ring in Aladdin

at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool last Christmas.

Tony said he’s excited ahead of making his panto debut in North Wales.

He said: “I can’t wait to be making my stage debut in panto. I’ve seen so many former Eastenders stars perform in

pantomime over the years, so to finally get the chance myself is brilliant, especially in beautiful North Wales, and such a historic and unique theatre.

“Panto is all about that festive feel-good factor, and making people smile, so I’m really excited to be a part of that. I know it will be a great laugh with all my fellow cast-members and the people of Wrexham.”

Having played Slave of the Ring last year, Mark says he’s looking forward to trying his hand at a different role this time around.

He said: “Playing the Fairy Godfather will be great fun, it’s all about magic and making people’s wishes come true, which I hope I’ll do for the people of Wrexham this year.

“I can’t wait to get started working with this talented cast. Every year the pantomime at the Stiwt is renowned for getting better each time, and I know this year will be no exception, except this year I’ll be a part of it.”

As well as Tony and Mark being new faces to the Wrexham panto-scene, familiar faces Charlotte Knowles and Michael Jenkins will be making their return to the festive production, with Charlotte playing the leading role of Snow White, and Michael starring as the Henchman, while also directing the pantomime.

This will be the eighth year Liverpool-based LHK Productions have produced the Christmas pantomime at the Stiwt Theatre.

Lee Kelly, producer of the pantomime and managing director of LHK Productions, said: “We’re delighted to have cast Tony and Mark in this year’s Wrexham pantomime, as well as casting Charlotte and Michael, who audiences have loved in recent years.

“I can assure the people of Wrexham, this year’s pantomime is going to be the biggest and best yet. We can’t wait.”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be at the Stiwt Theatre from December 9-31, with matinee and evening performances.

Tickets can be purchased via www.stiwt.com or by telephoning 01978 841300.
